Useful Information

1.  Location

 

  • The Cybersecurity & Resilience Symposium will be hosted by the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) - Jordan in Amman, Jordan, 15-17 October 2019.  The Symposium will take place at Sheraton Al Nabil Hotel.

 

2.  Schedule of the Symposium

 

  • The opening session of the Symposium will be held at 0900 hours on Tuesday,
    15 October 2019.
  • The schedule and order of the day will be announced at the opening session.
  • The Symposium will be conducted in English.

 

3.  Registration of Participants

 

  • Participants are requested to register, at the Registration Desk located on the entrance of the Symposium room between 0800 and 0900 hours on the opening day of the Symposium. Participants are also requested to wear the identification badge, which will be issued to them during registration.

 

4.  Documentation

 

  • Please note that no documentation will be available in hard copy format. Participants are requested to bring their own laptops to the Symposium.

 

5.  Hotel Reservations/Return Airline Bookings

 

  • Participants are requested to ensure that their return airline booking is confirmed.
  • Participants will need to arrange their own hotel and travel reservations.  

 

6.  Transportation

 

  • Participants are requested to make their own arrangements for transportation from the airport to the city and return.
  • Airport taxi services operate from the airport to Amman, at JD25 approx. per vehicle.

 

7.  Insurance

 

  • Participants are advised to have insurance coverage for any unexpected contingency including transport hazards (taxi, buses, rented cars etc.) and Medical Coverage.

 

8.  Passport

 

  • All foreign nationals entering Jordan must possess valid passports or other valid documents for travel.

 

9.  Visa

 

  • It is mandatory that all participants, who require entry visa to Jordan, obtain official visas from the Jordanian Embassy or Consulate in their country prior to their departure for Amman.

10.  Customs

 

The following items may be brought into Jordan:

 

  • Personal gifts with a value not exceeding 200 JD.
  • Only one liter of alcoholic drinks for every person above 18 years of age.
  • Only 200 Cigarettes for every person above 18 years of age.
  • Camera or Video camera.
  • Effects for personal use. Such as perfume and clothing
  • Personal computer (lab top)
  • Equipment for professional use

 

Additional quantities of the above items may also be purchased from Amman International Airport duty free shops after clearing customs.

 

11.  Weather Conditions

 

  • The main daily minimum and maximum temperatures for the month of October in Amman are between 14 ºC to 26 ºC.

 

12.  Currency, Credit Cards and banking services

 

  • The unit of currency in Jordan is the Jordanian Dinar with notes of 50, 20, 10, 5, 1 and coins of 50, 25, 10, 5, 1, 0.5 and 0.25. The current rate of exchange for US $ is US $ 1= 0.71 JD.
  • International Credit Cards, such as American Express, Diners Club, Visa, Master Charge, Carte Blanche, etc., are usually accepted at most hotels, department stores and restaurants.
  • All commercial Banks exchange major foreign currencies and are open from 0830 to 1400, Sundays through Thursdays.

 

13.  Shopping

 

  • Shopping malls and shopping areas are available in Amman. Be prepared to bargain in small shops, sidewalk vendors etc. In large stores, however, the prices are fixed.

 

14.  Tap water

 

  • It is recommended that all visitors drink only bottled water/beverages.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

 

 

Citizens holding Palestinian documents and citizens of the following countries are required to obtain prior approval from ministry of interior - Jordan through Jordanian embassies in their respective states:

 

Iran, Angola, Ethiopia, Uganda, Albania, Pakistan, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, Togo, Tanzania, Djibouti, Gabon, Zambia, Srilanka, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Somalia, Republic Of China, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Vietnam, Liberia, Philippines, Kenya, Magnolia, Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal Nigeria, India, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Sudan, Cuba, Afghanistan, Bosnia And Herzegovina,  Cameroon, Belize,  Mauritania, , Cambodia, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Romania, Macedonia, Moldavia, Namibia, Niger, Colombia, Lagos, Arteries,  Uzbekistan,  middle Africa, Swaziland, Guinea, Bissau.

 

Citizens of the following states can obtain visas either from Jordanian embassies in their states or upon entry to Jordan:
